Urdu Practice Hangouts on Google+

Yet another language has been added today to the Language Practice Hangouts Community on Google+ - Urdu. Although I learn Hindi, I guess I can benefit from participating in these hangouts, as these two languages are virtually the same language, though written in different script.

Urdu is the national language of Pakistan and an official language in several states in India. It's intelligible with Hindi, as both languages are very similar or better said identical in basic structure and grammar. Urdu has more Arabic and Persian words, it's written in Arabic script, while Hindi tends to have more vocabulary coming from Sanskrit and is written in Devanagari script.

The hangouts will be hosted by Irfan Farooqui; the very first will be held this Saturday at 18.00 CET.

Mind that the language practice Hangouts organized within the Google+ community dedicated to practising speaking are not classes. They have a form of a free conversation for those who are already learning a given language and have an intermediate or advanced level.
