Africa Trek 2 (pl)

To druga książka, którą przeczytałem w całości po francusku. Pierwszą było Wołanie anioła („L’appel de l’ange”). Powieść, o której piszę dzisiaj, „Afrika Trek 2”, autorstwa Sonii i Alexandre’s Poussin, można zaliczyć do literatury podróży, ale nie tylko. To zapis drugiego etapu ich pieszej wędrówki z południa na północ Afryki.

Africa Trek 2 (eng)

This is the second book I read entirely in French. The first was “The Call of the angel” (“L'appel de l'ange”). The novel, about which I write today, “Africa Trek 2” by Sonia and Alexandre Poussins, is an example of the travel literature, but not only. This is a record of the second stage of their hiking from south to north Africa.

توقعات الطقس
Weather forecast in Arabic

It was tough! During the latest hangout "Let's read in Arabic" I organized last Thursday we, learners, had uneasy task: to read a weather forecast. I thought it would be easier though. But all in all I think it was worth it. We often start a new conversation with "Hello!", "How are you today?" and then move on to exchange several sentences on the state of the weather. That's why I think it's essential to acquire vocabulary connected with this topic.

Urdu Practice Hangouts on Google+

Yet another language has been added today to the Language Practice Hangouts Community on Google+ - Urdu. Although I learn Hindi, I guess I can benefit from participating in these hangouts, as these two languages are virtually the same language, though written in different script.

Reading in Arabic: university

Last Tuesday I hosted my second hangout dedicated to reading in Arabic. This time we read a short dialog (المحادثة) and a text (نص للفراءة) containing some vocabulary connected with university. Thanks to Soumaya from Morocco and Saad from Saudi Arabia (شكرا جزيلا) we had an oppontunity to ask about anything which came our way while reading.

Hindi Urdu Flagship
- excellent source for every learner

Today I'd like to share with you one of the best language learning resources I've found on the web: The Hindi Urdu Flagship. As the title says it's directed to Hindi and Urdu learners, it's very well prepared by the experts in the subject from the University of Texas and Austin. The best thing is that many materials are available to download for free.

Practising Hindi

I love Fridays! Yes, that's the beginning of the weekend! But not only because of that. Friday is a day when I can practice speaking Hindi! As I wrote a few times Hindi is one of the languages that have a special place in my heart. I not only consider it a very beautiful and rich language but it's also due my to sentimental feelings I experienced during my trip to India. (You can read about my travel to India on my sister blog - Multigato Around The World.)

Don't be afraid to talk to yourself

No, I haven't lost my senses. I must admit that I often talk to myself! Why? It's just another way to practice the languages I learn, especially vocabulary and some constructions. Naturally, it would be better to have a native speaker at hand to correct me if I make a mistake, but even if there's no one around such a way may prove to be very helpful. It helps me realize if my vocabulary is sufficient in a given situation, and if it comes to me right when I need it.

Let's read in Arabic

Yesterday I hosted my first hangout dedicated to reading in Arabic. Although I'm not a native speaker - hm, are there any native Modern Standard Arabic speakers? - I thought it would be a great opportunity to practice reading comprehenstion and it could give me more motivation to keep up with my studies. We read a text from "Modern Standard Arabic Basic Course" by the Foreign Language Institute.
